Woolet 009 Soft Square — Havana

The square front is the more assertive of the two Woolet shapes. Havana takes the edge off it — the tortoise pattern breaks up 158 mm of acetate so the frame reads as texture rather than a block, and warms against the skin in a way black does not. If you want the structure without the severity, this is the pair.

Drawn wide from the start — not stretched

An XL version of a standard frame is scaled up from a narrow base, so the bridge and lens spacing still fight a wide face. Woolet 009 was drawn at 158 mm from scratch. The temples sit past your face instead of into it, and the 25 mm keyhole bridge rests on the sides of your nose rather than the top — which is what actually stops the slide.

Hand-cut Italian Mazzucchelli acetate

Cut by hand from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate milled in Milan, not injection-moulded. The havana pattern is in the block itself, not printed on — it runs through the material, so a scratch never turns white and no two frames are identical. Cut acetate is also the only way to build a 158 mm front that does not flex, and a flexing front is why wide frames snap. Hand made in EU.

How the 009 Soft Square sits on a wide face

A square front gives a broad face structure: it repeats the width of the cheekbones and gives the eye a horizontal line to follow. The 009 lens is 54 × 44 mm - wider than it is tall - so the frame reads as a confident bar across the face rather than a box. Rounded corners stop it turning severe. The 25 mm keyhole bridge suits a wider, flatter nose bridge. Pick the 009 when you want the glasses to add structure and a strong horizontal line.

Havana in daily wear

Havana is the warmer choice: the tortoise pattern softens a wide face and works with brown, navy and olive better than black does. Because the pattern is in the acetate block, each front has its own figuring - the left and right sides are never identical.

Will these fit a 160 mm face? Yes. The 158 mm front is comfortable across 153–163 mm. Narrower than that, Woolet Bespoke covers 145–160 mm made to measure, hand made in Greece.

What temple length are they? 150 mm — long enough to clear a wide head before the bend, which is where most frames fail even when the front is right.
