“Twenty years of frames that pinched. These are the first pair I forget I'm wearing.”
Greg · Woolet tester, 158 mm face · 009 Soft Square

Reading glasses stop working the moment the frame stops fitting. A standard 140 mm reader pinches a wide face at the temples, slides down the nose and ends up pushed onto your forehead. Woolet 007 Round / Panto Readers are 158 mm across the front - drawn at that width from scratch, not stretched from a narrow base.

Havana does something black cannot on a large frame: the tortoise pattern breaks up the front, so 158 mm of acetate reads as texture rather than a slab. It sits warmer against most skin tones. The round front softens a wide face; the panto brow line keeps it from reading as a circle.

Ready-made strength, +1.00 to +3.00

Pick your strength and they ship ready to read - no optician visit, no prescription upload. Single-vision reading lenses, same strength in both eyes. When your eyes need two different strengths or a full prescription, order the same frame with demo lenses and let your optician fit it.

Dimensions

  • Shape: Round / Panto
  • Frame width: 158 mm - fits faces 153–163 mm
  • Nose bridge: 26 mm keyhole
  • Lens: 53 × 47.6 mm
  • Temple length: 150 mm

Not sure of your number? Hold two credit cards end to end across your face, temple to temple. A card is 85.6 mm. When two cards barely span it - or do not span it at all - you are 153 mm or wider, and this is your size.

Hand-cut Italian Mazzucchelli acetate

Cut by hand from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate milled in Milan, not injection-moulded. The havana pattern is in the block itself, not printed on - it runs through the material, so a scratch never turns white and no two frames are identical. Hand made in EU.

Why a round reader works on a wide face

Readers go on and off twenty times a day. A round 53 × 47.6 mm lens gives you the full height of the page without the chin-up tilt that half-eye readers force. On a wide face the round front keeps readers looking like glasses, not like a tool you borrowed from the chemist. The 26 mm keyhole bridge lets them sit a touch lower on the nose, so you can look over the top at the room without taking them off.

Strength guide for Havana readers

Havana readers are the pair you take out of the house - to dinner, on a flight, into a meeting. The tortoise looks chosen, not needed. Match the strength to where you wear them:

  • +1.00 to +1.50 - menus, boarding passes, a phone in low light
  • +2.00 - a paperback on a train
  • +2.50 to +3.00 - contracts, small print, close detail

30 days to be sure

When the fit or the strength is not right, send them back within 30 days of delivery - unworn, in their case - for a full refund. Return shipping is on you; nothing else is. When they arrive faulty, we cover everything.

Frequently asked

Which strength do I need? Start from the strength printed on the readers you use today. New to readers: +1.00 covers small print at arm's length, +1.50 and +2.00 are the most common picks, +2.50 and +3.00 bring the page closer. Between two strengths, take the lower one.

Will these fit a 160 mm face? Yes. The 158 mm front is comfortable across 153–163 mm. Narrower than that, Woolet Bespoke covers 145–160 mm made to measure with reading lenses included, hand made in Greece.

What temple length are they? 150 mm - long enough to clear a wide head before the bend, which is where most readers fail even when the front is right.
